Hello Ms. Preston,
I should tell you right up front that I really don't ever look up professional figure skaters on the internet.... much less send them mail. In fact you are the first (*smile*).... and while I never have really followed the figure skating scene I happened upon your performance at the Canadian Open, in passing, and was so inspired that I actually wrote your name down on my hand with the intent of finding out more about you and your skating. Truly its a rather silly confession but given the fact that there is a chance you might actually read this (thanks to Ms. Kneece's website), it is worth the risk of being laughed at :).... I wish you well and hope that your skating brings as much enjoyment to you as it does your audiences. I know that you, like myself, are probably very busy and may not always have a chance to check email... however if you should ever get a chance, and want to respond, I'd love to hear from you. There is, of course, absolutely no pressure to do so. Have a safe and happy holiday season.
Merry Christmas and best wishes in 1999,
Rob Kubicki
P.S. - Congratulations on your new place....(The commentator at the Open
mentioned something about it)... I moved into my first place about a year
ago and today am still like, "whoa, this is pretty cool!" ;-)

Hi Karen:
I don't know if you'll remember me; its Chris Lam. I met you after the show in the back as you got on the bus as well talked to you at the hotel as you left in the morning.
Well, just wanted to tell you again that it was very nice to finally get a chance to meet you. You have always been one of my fav. Canadian female skaters and I felt so sad when you didn't make the team back in '94. But I'm glad to see you that you're still skating. I would love to see one of your shows, eg. Snow White. I think because of your show performances, I think that you are one of the better spinners on the women's pro scene now. You have great form and the spins you have are very innovative.
Hmm, I forgot to ask, what did you think of your performance? were you happy? Well, I'll just tell you my mom, brother and I were very, very happy to hear that you were at the event. It was our first time seeing you live, and it was special. Thanks!
Take Care & KEEP SMILING!
Have a safe and joyous holiday season!
Chris

Karen,
Congratulations on your third place finish at Canadian Pros last night.
This afternoon I was thrilled to see your short program. It was the
best I think that I have ever seen you skate. Then this evening you put
down another amazing program. I was so happy to be there in person to
see it. Of course, as usual, the judges had their blinders on and you
didn't get the marks you deserved but we all thought you were
fantastic. Again, congratulations and I'll see you next time you're in
Mississauga, maybe. Wait til I tell Dr. Kim on Monday, she'll be
thrilled too.
