December 13th, 1998

Hi there!

I have just returned from The Canadian Open, and am preparing for the holidays. My family is coming to spend the holidays with me and I am the, "Christmas Host"......Aaahh! Perhaps the turkey will be ordered in.....tee hee!!!

At The Canadian Open, there were amateur and professional skaters. Due to this mix of skaters everyone had to compete with the same type of program. This type of program is an ISU Technical program. (ISU-International Skating Union). This is the same type of program that the skaters compete with at the World or Olympic level. I performed to Pachelbel Canon for my technical/short program which is 2:20-2:40 minutes in length with eight elements. (A layback spin, flying spin, combination spin, spiral sequence, footwork sequence, a double axel, a triple jump preceded by footwork and a triple/double jump combination). My second program at The Canadian Open, was also the second program I skated on The Elvis Tour, "Silent World" by Donna Lewis.

On December 15th, I am going to Amherst, Massachusetts to film a television special called, "Furniture Brands International's Great Skates". This special will be aired on ESPN, December 28, 8-10PM. I will be performing , "Angel" by Sarah McLachlan and "Trouble" by Brenda Braxton. Both of these pieces were choreographed by myself, so I hope they are received well. I'm starting to venture into new territory!!

As for my future endevours in 1999, I have some ice shows planned.

I hope that all of you have a Very Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year!

Karen
